Tara & Frank’s Engagement Session | Loose Park + Unity Village

There are some photography sessions that go straight to the heart—and this one was absolutely one of them. Getting to photograph my dear friend Tara and her fiancé Frank for their engagement session was such a full-circle moment for me. I’ve known Tara since junior high, and now here we are, both older, celebrating one of the most exciting moments of her life. She was even my very first roommate after high school, so capturing this milestone felt extra special.

We chose two of the most iconic and beautiful locations in the Kansas City area: Loose Park and Unity Village. Loose Park gave us that dreamy, romantic backdrop—lush greenery, soft light, and the kind of natural beauty that makes every moment feel cinematic. Tara and Franks comfort with each other radiates, and it made photographing them a joy.

From there, we headed to Unity Village in Lee’s Summit, a location that never disappoints. Its Mediterranean architecture, arches, and reflecting pools add such elegance to a session. Tara and Frank brought so much warmth and natural connection to the space—it felt like the perfect complement to their personalities. Classic, sincere, and so full of love.

As I was taking their photos, I kept thinking about our journey as friends—decades of memories, growing up, moving into adulthood together, and now witnessing her step into this beautiful new chapter. It means the world that she trusted me with these images.

And now, her wedding is this weekend at Cellar 222, and I couldn’t be more excited—not as her photographer, but as an actual guest! I get to put the camera down, celebrate, and soak in every minute of her big day. But getting to photograph her engagement session was the perfect way to contribute something meaningful before the celebration begins.
