Capturing Love Through Every Chapter
As a photographer, some of the most rewarding moments come not just from snapping a beautiful image, but from becoming a part of someone’s journey—capturing the unfolding of a love story, chapter by chapter. Recently, I had the joy of doing just that: documenting a couple’s engagement session, their wedding day, then later their pregnancy portraits, and most recently, the arrival of their precious newborn.
A Love in Bloom – Engagement Session at Powell Gardens
Before the vows and the baby snuggles, it all began with an engagement session at the breathtaking Powell Gardens. The gardens were in full bloom, creating the perfect backdrop for John and Hadley to simply be themselves—walking hand-in-hand among vibrant flowers, and sharing quiet laughter under the trees. There’s something timeless about Powell Gardens, and it perfectly matched the peaceful, joyful energy they brought to every shot.
A Wedding Day Full of Purple and Promise
From the moment I arrived at Lone Summit Ranch, I knew it was going to be a truly special day. Guests were invited to wear shades of purple—in honor of Hadley, the bride’s favorite color (which also happens to be mine, lol)—and the result was absolutely stunning. The soft purples contrasted beautifully with the lush green landscape and the elegant, neutral tones of the venue.
Hadley and John looked incredible. Hadley—who already has a modelesque presence—wore a gown from The Gown Gallery that featured intricate beading on the bodice and a shimmering skirt that sparkled with every step. John looked sharp in a black suit paired with a purple bow tie, perfectly complementing the theme. Their wedding party was equally striking: the bridesmaids in flowing purple dresses, and the groomsmen in classic black suits with purple vests.
Lori and I had so much fun capturing every corner of this venue. From the tree-lined entrance and charming porches to the pergolas, gazebo, florals everywhere (provided by Licata's Flowers) wide open green spaces, and even the rustic farm silo and barn—we love capturing moments in every inch of Lone Summit Ranch.
After the wedding, Hadley sent a message that absolutely made my day:
“Thank you Angi's Art for capturing the most beautiful photos of the best day of our lives! 💜💜💜”
It’s moments like these—when couples feel truly seen and celebrated—that remind me exactly why I do what I do.
Waiting for Baby – A New Chapter Begins
Just a few months after the wedding, I got a message that made me grin from ear to ear—John and Hadley were expecting! They needed a few images for their baby announcement, so we quickly planned a mini-session at the lake. With their sonogram in hand and big smiles on their faces, we captured the sweet excitement of the news they were about to share with the world.
As Hadley neared her due date, we scheduled a full in-studio maternity session to celebrate this beautiful season. Hadley glowed, and we made sure she felt like the stunning mom-to-be she is. She started in a gorgeous navy gown with flowing fabric that added movement and elegance to each image. Then we switched things up—Hadley and John changed into jeans and black tees, creating simple, intimate portraits that put all the focus on their connection and Hadley’s growing baby bump.
Meeting Their Little One
And then came the best part—welcoming their sweet newborn. The session was calm, cozy, and full of love. We took our time capturing those first quiet moments: Hadley holding her baby close, John gently soothing tiny cries, and both parents completely in awe of this new little life.
One of my favorite touches? Incorporating a horse saddle into the shoot—a perfect tribute to Hadley’s love of horses and her life as an equestrian. Seeing their little one curled up peacefully on something so meaningful was such a special moment.
Why I Love Following a Family’s Story
Photography, for me, isn’t just about images—it’s about relationships. Following a couple from engagement to “I do” to “we’re expecting” to “meet our baby” is the kind of story I never tire of telling. These moments—big and small—deserve to be remembered. And when clients become friends and their stories continue to unfold in front of my lens, it reminds me why I love what I do.
If you’re a past wedding client thinking about maternity or newborn portraits—reach out. I already know your love story. Let’s keep telling it.
